If you are a dynamic, visionary and driven environmental professional with a passion for delivering coastal flood improvement schemes, we have an exciting and unique opportunity for you to build, develop and lead a new environmental appraisal team. The team will comprise environment, ecological and landscape specialists and you will be working alongside engineers and business case specialists. Our focus is the development and delivery of innovative solutions to flooding and the impacts of climate change.
We are appointed to the Environment Agency’s Collaborative Delivery Framework (CDF) in the south-east since 2019. Working together with the Environment Agency and civil engineering contractor Volker Stevin, JBA is supporting delivery of flood risk management, environmental, and navigation projects and providing incident management response across Kent, Sussex and Hampshire.
This is an opportunity to work on the largest portfolio of FCRM projects in the south of England. You and your team would support delivery of the long-term programme of work through the CDF and regionally in your new hub, west of the region.
You will have the drive and nurturing personality to build, support and mentor your team and provide our clients with the friendly service and technical excellence they have come to expect from JBA.

Your skills and experience:
You will have:
- A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent level of experience.
- Experience of leading the environmental delivery of flood defence schemes.
- Team leadership experience across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication skills and capability in engaging motivating and influencing staff and clients.
- Experience in a key discipline area, such as ecology, landscape assessment, heritage, hydrology, and EIA.
- Be highly self-motivated, possessing strong enthusiasm and commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes.
- Strong organisational, communication and inter-personal skills and collaborative working capabilities to co-ordinate and work within multi-disciplinary and diverse teams.
- Chartered status and Full Membership of a recognised relevant professional body (e.g. Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA). Where a candidate does not meet this requirement, they would be expected to achieve this within their first year.
